Thawing & STorage

Our recipes are freshly made without preservatives, so they are meant to be stored in the freezer, and then thawed in the refrigerator before use.  They come packaged frozen in food safe vacuum seal bags, which can be safely stored in your freezer for up to 6 months.  It’s best to thaw the food in the refrigerator, which can take up to 24 hours depending on package size.  Once thawed, we recommend consuming within 4-5 days.  

Think of Healthy Hounds Kitchen just like you would think of food you are serving your family.  Once thawed, immediately refreeze any additional amount that your dog will not be consuming in 4-5 days. There are many commercially available options for reusable freezer storage containers.

*If thawing on the counter, food should be consumed within the same day.

Package Sizes

We offer three retail sizes for purchase in-store or curbside pick up.  

  • 200 grams (7.05oz) ≈ under 1 cup

  • 500 grams (17.64oz) ≈ over 2 cups

  • 2,000 grams (70.05oz) ≈ under 9 cups

Pricing becomes more affordable, as the size of the food package increases.

Bulk Orders

For the most significant savings, we recommend purchasing in bulk.  Bulk orders start at 25lb and increase in 12.5lb increments.

25lb orders may be split between two recipes, and can also be arranged for two pick-ups if you do not have the storage space for 25lbs.  
(I.E., you may purchase a 25lb order of Beef & Sweet Potato, which is cooked every Monday and schedule half to be made this week, then the second half on a following Monday of your choice.)

Alternatively, you can split 25lb orders between two recipes and the cost is split down the middle.  For three recipes you can order 37.5lb, and four recipes would consist of 50lb. Our standard packaging for 25lb orders to vacuum seal them into six food safe vacuum seal bags.  

Bulk orders be placed the day prior to the desired recipe and prepaid over the phone or in person. Bulk pick-ups are after 4PM of the day that recipe is cooked.  We provide a courtesy call once your order is ready.

For an $8 surcharge we also offer custom packaging and can pack down to 1lb bags.  This surcharge is applied to each 25 bags packed.
